Incorrect playing of stereo SAP files on Sansa e200

(1/1)

Voy/SSG^Dial:
I discovered that the SAP files created from tunes for the Atari 8-bit stereo expansion are played incorrectly. The sound is strange and the music is played slowly.

Standard SAP files for standard Atari XL/XE use up to 4 channels, as many channels as it has a built-in soundchip called POKEY. Stereo expansion has an additional POKEY chip, so Atari may have eight music channels. 8-channels SAP files have STEREO metatag in the header and they are played incorrectly. I suspect that the CPU power is insufficient and hence these problems :( (simultaneous emulation of 2 POKEYs).

http://www.sendspace.com/file/xsjokf - the same file but in the OGG format (recorded from the real Atari 800XE computer ;D)

Please post bug reports to the bug tracker.

Domonoky:
Hi,

Stereo .sap files were just not tested, so i may have done something wrong there.
I will now try your Testfile, and see what i can do to improve it.

EDIT:
I just fixed Stereo playback of .sap files. So in the newest build it should work.
I tested on m:robe100 and h120 and it seems fast enough. I cant really test the speed because your testfile is a looping file, so it never ends :-)
