I can't upgrade
« on: July 27, 2008, 06:36:59 PM »
I used this to put rockbox on my iPod a long time ago, like last year, and whenever I had to format my iPod I'd use that to get it on there and I'd put the recent build over the installation that is installed on there, I don't know why but for some reason I can't install the current build over it, I've tried everything: deleteing it and putting the current on there, that makes the loading bar just sit there, I even tried going into the 5g folder that comes with the installer and replacing the files with the up to date ones, it just says "iPod not found," so basically I can only use this old out dated version of rockbox with barley any features installed in it.
So, 1. How do I fix this? and 2. If no one knows how is there any way I can put the plugins like mpeg player into this out dated version?

By the way it's an iPod 5th gen 30 gig.

We don't provide support for other people's tools. Please try restoring your iPod and using the instructions in the manual.

I honestly don't see what it has to do with the installer rather than the software itself.

There is no "iPod not found" error message in Rockbox, so you're obviously talking about the installation tool.  We have no idea what that third party installation tool has done to your iPod, so it can't possibly be supported.

1. How do I fix this?
Either ask the creator of the installer for help, or restore your iPod (with iTunes on Windows, or manually), then install Rockbox using an official method documented in the manual.

Not in any way that's useful.

Well I tried this[url] off of the website here and it did the same thing, loading bar goes all the way to the end then sits there, no matter how many times I uninstall/reinstall.

Please be specific with your problem description. I have no idea what progress bar you are talking about, I have no idea what messages the progress window shows and I'm not motivated to ask you about every details.

Does autodetecting the Ipod in the configuration dialog work? Do you have admin permissions?

Ok, allow me to clarify, it installs but when it loads rockbox the loading bar goes to the end then just sits there.
I'm sorry what I said earlier didn't make sense I was really tired and couldn't think too straight.

What is the "it" that you are referring to?

If you would like help, you are really going to have to be more specific.  It would be quite useful if you would answer bluebrother's questions.

The loading bar the shows up when you try to boot into rockbox from loader2, no auto detecting doesn't work and yes I have admin privileges.

Loader2 is not our software, and therefore we don't offer support for it here.

You have to ask someone involved with iPodLinux about Loader2.
