Bought refurb E280 but it will not let me install Rockbox...
« on: July 26, 2008, 04:18:41 PM »
Im a bit new at this so forgive me if Im missing something obvious

I tried installing rockbox via the manual method with the .rockbox folder in the main folder but it will not let me copy the contents of the folders in and says "The file XXXXX is not supported by this device. This device can only accept audio, playlist, audio album and folder files."

I then tried the bootloader but it doesnt detect the E280 and it does not show up in the list when I try to select it. I should have the right version as I checked and its 01.02.18A

Is there another file or program I should be using to install this or did Sansa put some kind of firmware or something on my player to block rockbox?

Switch the player into MSC mode. Using MTP won't work.

Besides, Rockbox Utility has a nice detection for this upon running autodetection from the configuration ;)

Thank you that did the trick I didnt know there was an option for that as I didnt get an instruction manual with the player. Though when I tried to use the the Rockbox utility with MTP mode it wouldnt even detect it though but everything seems to be working now that I switched modes

EDIT- wow I am loving rockbox right now so many features you all did an amazing job with this
