Then my apologies :)

However, a nice large splash would be good, seeing as it is a fairly vital part of the process, and sounds fairly easy to miss at the moment :)

Well, once I manage to finish the bootloader rework I'm currently busy with (well, in the short amounts of free time I can find) I have an idea to improve installation to a greater extend: have an overview page that gets displayed before installation itself starts. This page will get reused for all installations, and allows you to review your selection (or review what the quick installation methods will do) first. After the installation (which could still use the old logger window -- not 100% sure how to do that best) the same overview is presented with a result icon or similar. The user then needs to explicitly confirm this window -- so if he doesn't read its contents it's his fault ;)

Sounds good  :).  I do think that for the H100 and H300 there should be something large and explicit, separate from any other information telling you to do the firmware update.  It isn't like a lot of the other information that is 'for information', as it is essential for the install.  The danger of lumping it in with other stuff is that it won't get read.

Oli:
A flashing and coulourful Informationswindow, which can hardly bee overseen would have been enought for me. With so kind and friendly help is the possibilty to miss this informations no really a problem.

So much thanks.
Rockbox is so wonderful, much better than the original software.
