Problem with Dension iceLink after uninstalling Rockbox

(1/1)

magrab:
Hi, I have searched high & low for the best part of 2 months for a solution to my problem, and now I'm thinking maybe the only resolution will be to post a question about my specific problem.

I have an ice Link Plus (2.2, I think) and have been using it for the last few years without any problem.

I have an old iPod 60GB Photo and the lack of gapless play was beginning to irritate me so about 6 months ago I loaded Rockbox onto the iPod. The iPod still played fine in the car using the Dension ice Link.

The latest version of Rockbox I used was v.17254.
My stereo head unit is an after sales Alpine CDM 7871RM.

Then, a few weeks ago I decided to revert back to the inherent iPod software. I tried using the iPod with the proper Apple software in my car and whenever the iPod is connected to the cradle, the screen will only flick between the 'OK to disconnect' and the main menu, the latter screen is only visible for the briefest of moments before the 'OK to disconnect' screen. The pause icon is shown at the top left hand corner of the screen.

I have tried resetting the iPod, I have restored it, wiped everything off of it, reinstalled everything - all to no avail, still just the flickering between the 2 screen.

I have dismantled the Alpine stereo, the Dension...all to no avail.

I tested my son's iPod in my car and it just gets stuck on the 'OK to disconnect' screen.

I have been in touch with support at Dension, who appeared keen at first, then backed off, but after sending them a few chaser emails they basically said that the Dension iceLink was broken.

I was thinking of upgrading my iPod but have to put this on hold until I can get this issue resolved...is this a known issue? Has anyone else had this problem?

Apologies if this is either the wrong forum or if similar has been posted before - I did run a few searches, all to no avail.

Thanks

It sounds to me based on your description of how the same (or similar) behavior happens with both your iPod and your son's iPod that the fault either lies with the ice Link Plus, or (and here is where I am not familiar with the device) perhaps the interface cable between the head unit (?) and the iPod.

I don't see how this could be a Rockbox issue, though.
