Need Help Getting iPod with Rockbox to work with Alpine CDE-9852

Hopefully somebody can shed some light on this problem:

I just purchased a used car, and the previous owner installed an Alpine CDE-9852 in it. This head-unit has a wire that connects to the bottom data port on the iPod. Problem is, it takes control of the iPod, and therefore needs to get some sort of handshake from the iPod or something to verify that it has established a data connection with it. The head-unit will not just pick up audio, and the wire cannot be modified to do so, since the head-unit will not play anything unless it has control over the iPod. Therefore, there is no modification that will allow me to use Rockbox while connected (that I can discover), and it will only work with an iPod that has the original iPod operating system installed.

My idea was to utilize the dual boot, and just use the iPod operating system while in the car. However, all of my music is now on my iPod in a nice, organized file-tree since I use Rockbox. My question, therefore, is if there is anyway to play the music on my iPod through the iPod operating system without having to put it onto the iPod in the messy file organization that iTunes and the iTunesDB uses?

I have an 80GB iPod Video, and as I mentioned, the head unit is an Alpine CDE-9852. The head-unit has no auxiliary audio jack, does not have an option for one, nor can in connect to a CD changer, so I can't get an iPod adapter that goes in that way. I would really appreciate any suggestions anyone may have.

There is a work in progress patch which enables the serial port and implements the Apple Accessory Protocol - soap has just released an unsupported build (http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=17841.0) using this patch for testing. Hopefully this will allow your head-unit to talk to Rockbox.
