Theme for iPod Video: AluminArt
fantango:
Here's a new theme featuring large (200x200) album art for standard Rockbox builds on 5G iPods. It uses two fonts but does not need the multifont patch.
For more info, see the wiki:

All feedback welcome!
Wiki newbie question: why does my header "AluminArt" appear in blue in the wiki, immediately followed by a link "Create this topic"? Or is that just for me? The wiki code for the header is identical to everyone else's as far as I can tell.
License newbie question: some parts of my theme are based on other people's work (details in the wiki), but I assume it's still possible to release the theme under a creative commons license, provided I get their permission? Perhaps permission isn't strictly required (except to be polite)?
BdN3504:
your Theme looks good. i like the idead of using the rb logo as an hdd indicator. I'm not so good with all these licenses neither, so i don't think i'm can help you with that. But if all the images you have taken are from themes, which were published under a CC or GPL license, i think you can use them if you mention the authors name, without his permission.
PS: As you can now use conditional viewports, i generally think that these album "art not available" images don't have to be there. Instead you could draw a big viewport there, which holds information on the current track (like album artist, album, song, year, rating, size etc.) using the big font.
To your newbie question:
Answer can be found, if you click on "more formatting help" at the bottom of the wiki edit page:
WikiWord Links:
CapitalizedWordsStuckTogether (or WikiWords) will produce a link automatically if preceded by whitespace or parenthesis.
TIP If you want to link to a topic in a different web write Otherweb.TopicName.
HELP The link label excludes the name of the web, e.g. only the topic name is shown. As an exception, the name of the web is shown for the WebHome topic.
It's generally a good idea to use the TWikiVariables %TWIKIWEB% and %MAINWEB% instead of TWiki and Main.
Prevent a Link:
Prevent a WikiWord from being linked by prepending it with an exclamation point.
ZincAlloy:
nice one.
that rockbox logo looks like it could be a lot cleaner. send me your email adress via p.m. and I'll send you a clean version (including vector paths).

Thanks for the feedback! I considered using conditional viewports as you suggest, but the info I would have put there was already onscreen (albeit in a small font), plus I really liked the blank CD image I found. No doubt someone will soon release a large album art theme using that idea - or perhaps even mod AluminArt (feel free everybody).

That was it, thanks! Stupid me, should have realized. Someone had already fixed it for me though.

I hate to ask the obvious, but you do have permission to release said found image under your CC license?
