ipodpatcher not identifying my ipod vid. 80g
s0ccer4liffe:
I've recently been trying to install rockbox on my ipod vid 80g and i've followed the manual step by step but after i downloaded the ipod patcher and tried to install it it wouldnt recognize my ipod. it just says
"No ipods found, aborting"
could anyone please help me?
bluebrother:
Are you sure you don't have an Ipod classic? Those come as 80GB variants too, and Rockbox doesn't run on the Classic.
s0ccer4liffe:
yes im pretty sure its one of the older ones but im not absolutely positive. im doing it for one of my good friends and im not sure which one he got. how could i tell if its an older one or the classic?
soap:
Older ones have a plastic front and a stainless steel back.
Classics have what appears to be an anodized aluminum front.
s0ccer4liffe:
thanks alot for the clarification there. but that only furthers my question. it is in fact the older of the two. but the ipodpatcher still wont recognize it. i saw somewhere in the forums an assistant told someone to use "sudo.ipodpatcher" or something like that. how would i go about doing that?
