ipod database
(1/1)
QPisces:
I gotta say I LOVE MY ROCKBOX!
I absolutely hated itunes and it drove me nuts that I couldn't drag and drop my mp3s in explorer, and that I couldn't use a folder tree, and that I couldn't transfer the mp3s off my ipod to my computer... ALL SOLVED! Thank you so much!
I am left with one issue however. I plug my ipod into my XBOX 360 to listen to music often, and now because I am not using the ipod database the XBOX doesn't 'see' any of my music. It gets recognized as an ipod still.
I read about a program called retune that writes the database and from what I understand might even be able to accomodate my folder structure... but I can't find it anywhere... it seems to have disappeeared from sourceforge.
Anyone got a link?
Or does anyone know of another app to do the same thing?

I am not terribly familiar with the limitations, but unless you have a very abrupt directory structure there is not a chance of being able to use it (your folder structure) with the Apple Firmware's database.
You could always use one of the iTunes replacement programs to load music onto your iPod (into the appropriately obscured paths your Xbox is apparently expecting) and still use the music with Rockbox using the Database function.
Another option is to wait until Rockbox's USB stack is complete on the iPods, and chances are Xbox will see your device then as a generic HDD.
