iPod video freezing during boot-up with USB plugged in
(1/1)
Edricson:
Hi,
I hope this hasn't been discussed before, at least I couldn't find it.
I am using Rockbox on my iPod Video 30 GB (Black), and it's absolutely great. There's just one problem. It's not a big deal, but maybe it could do do with some solving.
With Rockbox (or with the hold switch on), if the iPod is plugged in before the computer is turned on, it mounts succesfully when the system is booted up (tried on WinXP and Ubuntu Gutsy & Hardy) and goes into Apple's charge mode. With Rockbox, however, it only goes as far as the Rockbox title screen. Backlight is on and responds to buttons, but otherwise it's frozen. If I unplug the player in this condition, it goes to the menu screen, but does not respond to the wheel, so I have to reboot.
I am running Rockbox r17991-080708 at the moment, but the bug was there in earlier versions too.
Thanks!

It happens to me too (same iPod as yours), and always did. I think is a know issue, you probably can find a bug report of it.
Is no big deal, but kind of a problem when the iPod battery is very low. In this case, the iPod will start at that "Very low battery, please wait" screen. Then, after charging for a while, it auto reboots. And then it freezes after loading rockbox and stops charging.
The solution in this case is switching "hold" on while at the "very low" screen, so the iPod will boot the OF after charging and will not freeze.
