1G iPod Nano won't turn off

Everything works fine except when I try to turn off my iPod, its turns off but just turns on again. Any help?

How are you shutting down?

Holding the play button until a dialog box pops up and says "shutting down...". After it's off, it turns right back on. Also, if i leave my iPod alone for awhile, it goes back to the normal iPod interface and I have to reset to get back to Rockbox. Is this supposed to happen?

EDIT: Somehow the shutting down problem stopped.

If your unit thinks it's always charging it may be similar to this person's problem:

Have you left the hold switch on in those cases when it boots into the iPod firmware automatically?

Keep your fingers crossed that this doesn't reappear as it sounds like it may be a hardware issue.

The hold switch was off and the iPod does not think it's always charging. Should I reinstall Rockbox?

Your unit is behaving very strangely.  Even if the iPod wakes itself up immediately when it's shut down the bootloader should load Rockbox, not the Apple firmware.  Does the iPod sleep normally from the Apple firmware?

Anyway, it's good to report the (Rockbox) revision number you're using.  Then try downloading the current build and verify that it still happens there. 

A couple of further questions: When did you install Rockbox?  Did this problem begin suddenly?
