Will formatting my sansa kill my sansa?
(1/1)
tooquick:
I don't know if it is because I rockboxed it, I used the reverse build, or if it is another problem, but my sansa e270 is screwed up. One of the CDs says it is 8 gigs in size and has system files inside that are each 4 gigs. I cant delete them, because it says it is read only. I tried un-checking read only, but it still will not let me delete them. Any suggestions? Should I format it, or will I lose the OS?
Update: What I have done so far is entrer recovery and I downloaded e200fw01.00.12.exe and tried to run it, it said it would format and asked if I was sure. I said yes and it said it couldn't it didn't have enough disk space. When I go to info on the sansa menu it says it has 5621 MB available, but when I open it through my PC and look at the Songs folder it says one of my CDs is 8 gigs in size and I can't delete it.
Update 2: I reset my settings and made sure USB was set to MTP which is the original one, I again entered recovery and finally was able to downgrade and format. It sucks I had to downgrade, but it looks like I got it fixed.
JEJ:
It sucks to downgrade, but now that you formatted and before you load you player with music, why don't you try a fresh RB installation making sure you have the latest firmware and RB build?
Somehow unrelated but why don't these forums allow you to post on a thread if you were the last person to post? Editing doesn't cause the same effect. It doesn't "bump" the thread so people might miss the development of your case. Whay would be the right forum to make this suggestion?
Llorean:
Since the problem's solved anyway (and it wasn't an "installation" issue in the first place), I'll answer your question, and move this thread: We mention in our guidelines that we don't want people bumping, so there's no need to request it. Editing a post will still flag it as new, so anyone actually interested in it can see that there is new information.
robin0800:
It may flag it as new but it does not bump it and if a long way down or even on the second page could it?
Llorean:
There's a "new topics" area. No matter what page it's on, it'll show up if edited. And after two days they can add a new post.
But if someone's adding information in the first day or two, they should consider waiting until they actually need a question answered before posting: If they weren't going to wait for their answer, why post?
