APE playback on my H120 stopped working with recent build r17927
« on: July 10, 2008, 02:57:12 PM »
I have been enjoying the inclusion of the APE codec for some time but recently I had to reformat the hard drive and I installed build r17927. Now I get one of two behaviors just when the files encoded with APE.

1. On switching tracks rockbox freezes and I have to reset the H120
2. On switching tracks there is a second or two of loud hiss then the playback of the following track resumes

It also seems that something changed with regards to the meta data parser. My older files encoded with Media Center 7 & * many years ago are no longer showing up in the database and can not play back when I select then in the file browser.

Any suggestions or pointer to a build that fully supports APE would be appreciated.

Cheers

Please file a bug report on this after verifying it occurs in a current build

I'd love to but the tracker does not seem to like me. Do I need different credentials?

The two problem also exist in 18007.

Plus the Marquee skin is no longer displaying correctly on my H120. It looks like the frameis shifted down a few pixels and now the text is overwriting and the bottom is missing.

Cheers

You need to sign up for the tracker, yes. It's not a part of the forums.

I registered with the tracker but I still only get an empty page when want to enter a new bug.

This does not seem to work for me. If anyone could do me the favor of entering this bug I appreciate it. This used to work really well and somehow must got broken in the last year.

Okay, the system let me in and I entered a bug for this.

Cheers

Please check that the hd does not contain errors (with chkdsk or the like, depending on os etc.). Also check that the files are identical to the ones on your computer and that the originals are ok.
Does playback of any other files than APE work ok?
If everything is ok try going back to the build that used to work for you and do a bisection forward to the first know not working build to figure out where it broke.

Sorry for the delay, I just came back from vacation.

The files on my computer are okay to the extent that they play with no problem in Jriver Media Center. I ripped these files CDs on Jriver in APE.

When I run chkdsk e: /X /R from Vista against the H120 the drive checks out okay. The file system type is FAT32. Is there any other test I should perform?

The exact same tracks in FLAC format converted by Jriver work flawless on the H120 with the same build of Rockbox.

I do no longer have the old Rockbox build but it was from about a year back. If anyone can volunteer and send me one I would be happy to try it out.

Cheers
