Are the newer classics just overall non-compatible?
« on: July 09, 2008, 11:36:56 AM »
I remember before I found RockBox a couple days ago, I tried to put Linux on my iPod from iPod Linux.net, but my version I think isn't compatible. So I'm wondering if all the programs like this, that change the firmware, are none of them compatible with the new classics? I'm have an 80 GB classic and I think it's from '07 to '09 according to Apple.com.

I'd try to put Rockbox on it, but since it's apparently not compatible... No way I'm losing 30 Gigs of music and 5 Gigs of videos (V FOR VENDETTA AND HITMAN XD!) :P

Will it ever be supported?

This question has been asked to ad infinitum and back three times over already.

We don't know when, or if, Rockbox will ever be compatible with the iPod Classic. A search of the forums will reveal why that is so.
