Format?

(1/1)

offtheroad:
I have a 60GB Video iPod and have used it on my Mac ever since I received it. How can I tell how it's formatted? Ane I think it's 5th  generation.

Presumably MacOS has a utility or menu that can tell you how a disk is formatted.  Try google or Apple's help documents if you're not sure.

Edit: Don't PM me replies to this thread.

offtheroad:
Sorry about the PM. So the question is can I reformat my iPod to any format on my Mac.
And the big question is can uninstall all of this if it fails?

See here for how to convert your iPod to FAT32:
http://rockbox.org/wiki/IpodConversionToFAT32

You don't have to post your email address in every reply, we can see it in the "email" link under your name.

EDIT: If the install fails, or you just don't like Rockbox, you can boot into emergency disk mode, then do a "restore" with iTunes (note this will format the player, removing all music).  With what the Rockbox install procedure does, it is not possible to brick the iPod, it just may require restoring to bring it back to a workable state.

Thank You.
