Installation problems over and over again
« on: July 06, 2008, 02:02:53 PM »
Hey,
I've been trying to install Rockbox about 3 times already, following the instructions and everytime it just bricks the player at the SanDisk start up screen.

My player says "e280R" on the back and the Rockbox instructions mention several times that if the options on the player for USB modes are "MSC and MTP" instead of "Rhapsody and Plays for Sure" that its a Non-R player.  I don't think this is an accurate statement because my player says "R" on the back and has the Rhapsody logo on the back....Either way, I've followed the instructions to detail for both installations and had to recover the player twice.

I did the manual installations and just tried to do the automated installation but with no sucess - it can not detect the player it says.

Any suggestions before I brick this thing again?

Sandisk is known for refurbishing units and switching the cases around, so it really doesn't mean anything that you have an R on the back.  Have you verified that you don't have a v2 player?  Have you put it into MSC mode?  And could you describe in more detail "bricks at the Sandisk start up screen"?

I've verified that it is no a V2 and its in MSC mode.

By 'brick' I mean turns into one.  The splash screen animates then just freezes - and that is about it

Actually - I just tried the AutoInstall method again and its working.....This is great!  This interface is amazing and so efficient.  Many thanks to all the developed it.
