M5L: .talk present but no voice output
« on: July 06, 2008, 10:46:15 AM »
First of all it's the first time I use that feature so maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Got the latest build on my player (r17957-080706).
I enabled Voice Files and Voice Directories as described in the manual and I executed all 3 steps that RockboxUtility offers: install/create voice files and create talk files.
I checked the folders. The .talk files are present as well as the english voice file beyond .rockbox/langs.

What's going wrong?
Any suggestions?

First: Please don't post such questions in the install section.

What settings did you choose when creating the voice files? Specifically, Lame or Speex?

I'm sorry!
Didn't see the "installation" topic, I only saw "Cowon".

I took lame.
The generated .talk files in the particular folders work. Tested those with an external software player.

You need to use speex.

the upcoming version of Rockbox Utility won't give you a choice about the encoder anymore, so one possible cause for errors less ;)
