sansa v2
« on: July 05, 2008, 10:16:28 AM »
[please note that i don't know english very well]

Will rockbox run on sansa v2 in the future?

I read somewhere that devices that don't have audible support have the v1 firm/hardware.
The one i want to buy doesn't refer audible support. http://gstavros1.googlepages.com/E-SHOP.GRSANDISKSANSAE2502GBBLACK_1.jpeg

May this device be the v1?

The only way to know for sure is to look at the firmware version.  If it starts with a 1, its a V1, if it starts with a 3, its a V2.

However, if its a new Sansa, is almost certainly a V2.  New V1s have been off the market for a while now.

Depends if people do the work to get it working on the V2.  Obviously we can't predict that.

You got to take a look to the works this guys are doing:
http://daniel.haxx.se/sansa/v2.html
I'm a developer too, of web applications and services, and my knowledge is poor about processors and hardware platforms. But in the latest posts you can see they are doing very interesting findings.
We will have to wait the geniuses to finish their work, and give them our support.

The most recent work in progress on the Sansa V2 architecture is found in this thread:

(I think we can close this particular thread now)
