Getting Rid of the Sansa BootLoader

(1/2) > >>

Multiplex:
I was reading FS8642 about increasing the clock speed in the RB bootloader for users who have ditched the Sansa bootloader.

I got to thinking that I might want to get rid of the Sansa bootloader, because I never use the Sansa Firmware. I have an 8Gig micro SDHC card so the sansa USB mode is no use for loading music, I can always upgrade Rockbox via the sdhc card, and finally I think that I read that if I ever do need it I can use one of the recovery modes to reinstate it.

So apart from blisteringly fast start-up (it's not exactly slow anyway - not in comparison to the H320) what other benefits are there? can I delete any files or partitions to get more storage?

How do you charge your player? I thought you needed the OF for this.

Replacing the bootloader doesn't do anything to the OF.  All it does is remove the code that handles recovery mode and some hardware initialization, and then replace it with the rockbox bootloader.

This is what I was Querying

You can charge in Rockbox - it's a bit slow till the right settings for the hardware are sorted, hold the centre (select) button while plugging in the USB cable. Actually I don't know how to charge in the OF...

I bought the player (C240) for Rockbox - I suppose that is why I like the idea of completely removing the OF
