I have a Sansa e250R mp3 player. I love the thing and I recently discovered the Rockbox alternative interface. While I don't really mind the current Sansa dashboard, I am possibly interested in trying the rockbox out. I have a few questions about the whole process and installing it on my player.
First, I am trying to determine exactly what player I have. I have seen notes that state even though I have a player that says "Rhapsody" on it, it might not necessarily be a true Rhapsody player. I'm thinking I might not have a true Rhapsody player because of the follwoing statement on the Rockbox website:
If the USB options on your player are "MSC" and "MTP" it's non-R, if they're "Rhapsody" and "Plays for Sure" then it's R.
My USB options are MSC and MTP so I'm thinking I have a non-Rhapsody player, correct?
I do have version 1.xxxx as stated so I guess I am good there too.
Finally, if for some reason I don't really like the Rockbox interface or just want to go back to the old way, can this be done simply? I have had to do a total format to the player due to it locking up. Is this all that is needed if I want to go back to the old way or is there some other procedure and steps that need to be taken?
MarcGuay:
You're right, you have a regular e200 v1, which will work fine with Rockbox. Installation and uninstallation instructions are in the manual and both are very simple.

Rockbox is not an "alternative interface", it is a complete replacement firmware. It is like swapping Windows and Linux - it doesn't just look different, it is completely different functionally as well.

OK, is there a chance I can "brick" my e250r? Or can I simply use the recovery mode to reformat the whole thing and start from scratch?
MarcGuay:
Anything is possible but if you follow the instructions there shouldn't be any problem. Also, for the record, you don't have an R model.
