Skipping the iPod_Control folder when using the Database
« on: July 02, 2008, 04:17:13 AM »
I love Rockbox and love using it! But one problem.

In order for my alarm clock to work with my iPod, I have to upload music using iTunes, which requires copying the music into the iPod_Control folder. I choose to organize my music using the Artist/Album/Song system on the root of the drive for Rockbox, which is easier. When I update or initialize the Database on Rockbox, it adds the same music that's in the iPod_Control folder to the DB that is also in my organization. So I'm wondering if there's any way to skip the iPod_Control folder when updating the DB, or any way to skip files that aren't in the Artist/Album/Song system on the root of my drive.

Thanks!

Okay. I never knew what that file was for. (It should be mentioned on the wiki or the manual). Thanks!

I did see it mentioned in the IRC and tracker after a brief search, but not in the wiki.

Even better, I don't see why you should use the original firmware for an alarm. You could do that completely in Rockbox.

I would but when i set the alarm on the clock, it doesn't start playing music. And when i use the alarm function in Rockbox, it only works for me when my ipod is off. I leave my ipod docked in the clock and it always keeps it on.
