Just a little issue here with the mpg player.
(1/1)
Brian117:
Hey guys, Brian117 here, just joined today and also just installed Rockbox today also. I'm loving this program so much. It has so many features, plus you can automatically install it.
Anyways, lol, I saw it has a MPG movie player. Well, I plugged in my iPod Nano 1st gen. And went to "My Computer" and double clicked the drive and saw the normal folders, notes, etc.
So I went to find a MPG movie file, and dragged it in the root of my iPod. Unplugged it. The iPod reboots and loads Rockbox. I go under Files, and I see the movie there. I scroll down and click it. I see the options, "Play from beginning" etc...And I do click "Start from beginning"
From there It's a frozen black screen. The video is only 3 minutes 45 seconds. And yes it has the extension of .mpg.
So am I doing something wrong? Not installing it correctly? Thanks tons in advance for your help.
Strife89:
The .mpg extension is somewhat misleading, as there is more than one version of MPEG video.
Go to www.winff.org and download version 0.41 of the WinFF converter - it has presets for converting to a number of devices (including Rockbox targets). Install and use it on the video, then try again.
I recommend that you DO NOT convert the video straight from or onto your iPod - put it on your computer and convert it there, then copy it to your iPod when done.
See the PluginMPEGPlayer page (on the Wiki) for more information about the MPEG player.
By the way, if you use Firefox, you can use an add-on called Video DownloadHelper to get video files off of YouTube. Very handy for getting video content. ;)
AlexP:
That would be PluginMpegplayer (capitalisation matters on the wiki) at http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/PluginMpegplayer
Brian117:
Thanks so much guys. I'll try and follow your instructions.
EDIT: Thanks TONS strife89. You helped tons. ;D ;D
