Rockbox Installation problem - 5.5G 80GB Ipod Video

(1/1)

Armon92:
I followed this video to install rockbox to my Ipod

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swg-gZjCBr4&feature=related

and had my Ipod connected as well as Disk mode enabled in Itunes, however when I reached the part to install where you use Ipodpatcher the command prompt stated that "No ipods found, aborting". I think the problem could be because my Ipod isn't in disk mode because when I held Menu and Center button down to put it in disk mode it showed the apple logo for a few seconds then switched back to the normal screen. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

PaulJam:
Please follow the official installation instructions in the Rockbox manual:
http://www.rockbox.org/manual.shtml

And also make sure you really have an ipod video (and not a "classic"):

Although I think PaulJam's suspicion that you have a classic and not a 5.5G is probably right - I just thought I'd point out that Menu + Center is not the entire shortcut for getting the iPod into disk mode, that's the key combo for hard reset - you need to follow it up with Play + Center immediately the screen clears after you've done the reset.
