Uninstalled Rockbox Bootloader still trying to load
« on: June 26, 2008, 02:15:58 AM »
I just purchased a Sansa 250e v1.  I loaded Rockbox but I was having problems trying to generate the database.  So I tried uninstalling Rockbox and the Bootloader using the utilities program.  Rockbox seems to be gone but it is still trying to start up using the Rockbox bootloader. It fails because it can't find the bootloader file.  It will still do the alternate boot up to the Sandisk software.  How can I stop my player from trying to boot up Rockbox?  The installer utility won't even let me re-install Rockbox or the bootloader. ???

What exactly did you do? I just tried uninstalling the bootloader on my e200 using Rockbox Utility and it worked fine. Have you explicitly uninstalled the bootloader (using the "uninstall bootloader" button)? As the bootloader is a critical thing it needs to be removed separately.

I just ran the boot loader uninstall from the utility (using the boot loader uninstall icon just like I did last night) so I could explain to you what happened, but this time it worked.

Last night it wouldn't let me do anything in the utility since it wouldn't recognize the Sansa as being attached.  I am sure I was in the correct USB mode.  It was like the boot loader uninstall was half way completed.  Why the uninstall worked today I don't know.

It seems to be booting up normally now, so hopefully I am back to where I started.

Thanks for the quick reply anyway.

Are you sure you had administrator permissions? Bootloader (un)installation requires this, while the rest of the (un)install doesn't. Also, there have been reports about bad cables and when using a hub. Such problems usually only manifest for the bootloader part ...
