Problems installing the bootloader*solved*

(1/1)

1ny0urfac3:
I have an ipod 5th gen video 30gig with a 32 gig compact flash card in it.  I downloaded the lastest build for it and the rockbox utility.  When I opened it I got an error that said something about the html document could not be displayed.  I ignored it.  From there I tried to install the bootloader but I get an error that says that its an invalid installation method.   I can't remember the details.  sorry.  So I decided to try and load the bootloader manually.  I ran the installer and it said error-cannot be installed.  After that my ipod refused to boot and went into recovery mode, so I am now recovering it.  any help is appreciated.  I know I don't have details but I'm reluctant to try again to get details because It takes forever to format.  Could it be a problem with using a usb 1.1/firewire cable.  I have the firwire pluged in for power and usb for data transfer.  could the firwire connection be confusing it because my sister has a usb 2.0 ipod cable I could use if thats the problem.

**this was resolved by using a usb 2.0 cable.  So if you experiencing troubles installing using a firewire/usb 1.1 cable on an ipod that doesn't support firewire transfers you need to use a usb 2.0 cable.  Thanks. **

Sorry, we're definitely going to need more detail than that - and yes - I'd stick to using a USB 2.0 cable.
