Gigabeat X30 .SAT Encryption Removal *without cradle*?
(1/1)
luigough:
Dear All,
I have owned a Toshiba Gigabeat X30 for a year now after picking it up at a "clearance" - this being the last unit and I must say I've been impressed by its performance even with a slowly diminishing battery life. The audio quality is good, I think the plus touch is a good way of getting around and there wasn't many niggles, until I found out how much easier life would be if I had rockbox on it.
Problem has it, I've got 25Gb of music which I've "deleted" and carved down from a collection of 80Gb which is stored all over the place and I don't wanna have to "re-find" and "re-copy" it all from source. All of the music on there is encrypted in .SAT. And, I don't have a cradle for this - and investing $99 for a cradle (if anyone still sells these things...) is a bit of a pain too.
Can anybody tell me - is there a way to "undo" this mess of .SAT without the cradle. (Initially I thought WMP11 was the problem, but after rolling back to WMP10 - and reading the manual carefully, I realise it says WMP support only through the optional cradle. Damn...)

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way to get rid of the encryption without the cradle.
Here is a link to somebody who was selling an X cradle at the beginning of the month.
