Window xp and H10 with rockbox problems

(1/1)

Ok.

I recently got a iriver h10 6g second-hand with the latest rockbox installed.  The h10 powers up fine and plays the .mp3 files that were already on it.  So, it would seem there is no problem with the player or rockbox running on it.  When I hook it up to my computer via USB 2.0 connection, Windows xp/sp2 recognizes Rockbox Media Player, prompts the hardware wizard, and tries to find a driver.  I've read forums and the FAQ and realize that there is no driver and rockbox isn't supposed to need one.  However, if I cancel this out, the computer acts as if nothing is connected and I can't access the h10 to add or take off any files.

I have tried to do the dual boot.  I have pressed the <-- button, held it as I powered up, and all that happened was a screen told me that it could not find the OF.mi4 file and powered down.

I tried using the rockbox utility, but it kept telling me that there was an invalid configuration, had me reconfigure, and kept telling me that there was neither h10 ums or mtp.  Thus, no way to uninstall.

I tried doing the dual boot with the usb connected.  It then went into emergency startup.  I then have a USB Connected screen with an arrow come up on the H10.  XP recognizes the device as a iriver h10 mass storage device and shows an e:\ (fat32 format) drive when my computer is brought up.  It shows the drive as empty.  I have tried to reformat (no fat32 format prompt comes up), transfer .mp3 files, and simply look for files.  Nothing happens.  Format simply gets clicked and nothing happens.  File transfers to the h10 say that any file attept has invalid paths.

Anybody got any ideas on how to either get files onto the player or how to go back to my previous firmware that I haven't tried yet?

Maybe you can go over the steps at http://www.misticriver.net/wiki/index.php/H10_Firmware_Conversion:_MTP/UMS to see if it really was converted to UMS.

It certainly looks like the person who installed RockBox did a bad job and cut a few corners.
Nothing that can't be fixed....

I have the same problem, too.

I installed Rockbox3 on my Iriver H10
on the player it works fantastic
but i cannot sync it with my Win XP SP2 computer
Windows finds a Rockbox Media Player  but no driver
so i have to connect  the player in emergency connect to put music on it
and that's sucks

i have try ed out many thing
including the ums trick

and in the only thing what works was the ini file inside of the zip file
http://www.iriverplus.com/tools/UMS/H/H10/H10_ENG_MT.ZIP
when i have installed the original iriver firmeware
so the PC recognised the palyer
but not anymore after installing rockbox

some Weeks ago it worked perfectly with rockbox
i could connect the player   and  put music on it
but with a new "current build" it was over

i remember in the beginn of using rockbox, that i had formate the players HDD in emergency connect  before it works
but this time  it doesn't help me

Any Ideas???
