Rockbox freezing up

I finally got Rockbox installed on my Toshiba F20 Gigabeat.  Now when I power it up Rockbox freezes at the main menu, I cant use any buttons including power to shut it down.  I have to switch the battery to off to turn gigabeat off.

I am wondering if it has to do with the original firmware not being right on it for some reason.

Also, as a second issue the fonts are super tiny but I am assuming once I correct the above issue then I can enlarge them.

Any help would be greatly apprectiated.

Your previous post, where the original firmware was freezing too, suggests that your device may have something wrong with its hardware preventing it from working.

Well I thought of that as well but the device worked fine until I screwed up and downloaded Rockbox incorrectly if you recall from my posts before.

Well, from your description of what happened you didn't actually put Rockbox on your Gigabeat before it stopped working. Your Gigabeat stopped and prevented you from installing Rockbox to it.

Well technically yes that did happen.  any suggestions as to what I can do now ? can i format hard drive and start from scratch maybe ?

Despite what a lot of people do on these forums (inexplicably if you ask me) - formatting is never the best first thing to try - especially not with the Gigabeat, where the original firmware is stored on the main partition of the drive. If you format it, you'll render your Gigabeat completely in operable.

Well I am at a standstill now, the gigabeat is still freezing at the rockbox menu.  So formatting is not the first thing to try, so what would anyone suggest at this point ?

It doesn't sound like a problem to do with the disk at all - it sounds more serious than that. Personally I have no clue what you should do - let's hope someone else has

SERIOUS is not a word i like to hear....there must be some answer to this besides chucking it and buying something else.  All this cuz i couldnt find the original cd when my computer crashed and yes i screwed up along the line but admitting that gets me nowhere at this point.  I just want rockbox to work it sounds awesome.  HELP !!!
