Bad view of special chars - Solved
« on: June 16, 2008, 04:03:51 PM »
Hello, I just installed rockbox firmware to my iPod 5.5G 30GB player and I have small problem. Chars, which are special for my language(czech) like ěščřžýáí doesn't work properly in ID3 tags. In menu yes, so font is probably ok. But in database it doesn't work and there are only unreadable chars instead of them. Is there any way to repair it? for example change coding of id3 tags (but I don't know how)?

Thx for each answer

BTW: My English isn't very good, I'm sorry..

Are the tags OK in any other application?

It's possible the font the theme you're using doesn't support those characters, you may wish to try a different font as well to see if that may be the case.

I don't think so -- he already said that those characters work fine in the menus. I'd rather suspect the codepage setting not matching the codepage used for the tags.

Oh, my bad...  I didn't catch that when I read through the thread.

It couldn't be a codepage problem somewhere then, would it..?  (tags not being saved as UTF-8 or whatever codepage is needed for the correct characters to be saved and displayed)

OK, thank you very much.
I've already used google and I found tag converter, so everything works great now.
So really thank you.
