Voice in Database on iRiver H10 20GB
(1/1)
khyron:
Hi.
I'm sure this information is already available somewhere -- but I cannot find it.
when using the database in rockbox to browse rockbox voice doesn't read the .talk files, and doesn't 'talk the categories / folders either'
I found a post in december 2007 where a developer responded that rockbox couldn't speak the database entries using the .talk files, but then another in march 2008 which seemed to imply that it now could.
Could someone please let me know If the behaviour I'm seeing is:
Normal for Rockbox, or
Normal for Rockbox on the H10,
or something I can fix
Thanks
Llorean:
The database cannot play .talk files. Where did you see that it could?
khyron:
Thanks for the reply, I cannot find the post which seemed to imply that the entries under the database option could be 'spoken' -- not spelt out - or enumerated.
It must have been wishful thinking.

Well - I was hoping this feature would be there, too ...
I was thinking that one could create a directory called ".talk" that would have a file per entry in the database - it would not matter if it is an artist, album, or genre - then go look there every time the cursor moves over an item in the database menu tree....
Would this kind of thing make sense? Is it something we should help write?
Was there a different suggestion already in the works?
Thank you!
Moises
