It's not a simple matter of just putting the patches somewhere.  Patching involves making changes to the source code and then compiling a Rockbox build.

You'll want to take a look at these wiki pages if you want to get a better idea of what is involved:

I don't understand compiling.

I downloaded and installed the VMWare Development Environment and was able to make a build off of the svn using this. But after compiling and creating a zip file with the command "make fullzip" i don't know where to find the zip i just created. is there a command which tells me where the output of vmware goes? Or is that all just "imaginary" as i'm emulating an environment?

Furthermore, i don't understand how to apply patches neither... when i download a patch file, where do i have to put it for vmware to be able to use and include it into a build. And which commands do i have to use to make vmware include it into a build?

The zip file will be in your build directory.  To access that from Windows, follow the instructions here:  http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/VMwareDevelopmentPlatform#File_sharing

Did you read the links in my prior post in this thread?

Sorry for the inconvenience... I have read these two wiki pages but still don't get it
I found this thread and am now connected to the virtual machine...

(short sum up: if you have vmware installed and running do the following:
- Open an explorer window and enter \\debian\user\ in the address bar.
- You will be asked for username and password which are user rockbox, as described on the "working with vmware" wikipage.
- Now you can see the directories you created and the zip file...)

What i still don't understand is how to apply patches... it says you can download a patch programm for windows, but since i have vmware i want to use it to patch... what do i do?
