I find Rockbox quite stable on my ipod video (*), so I got curious and I'd like to try and simulate what you report; I have a playlist with 4 mp3 long songs (over 15min each, VBR aprox. 256kbps); since it seems to happen near the end of the last song, do you use "repeat" on? (or any other feature that should be considered)

Nope, never used it. Actually, I disabled everything that might affect the playback. Anyway, has Llorean said, it might be that the problem is in my ipod only. Now I just tried something different: instead of just overwriting the rockbix dir with a new build, I completelly removed it and then reinstalled using the utility. I will put the exact same song I was hearing the last time it froze, lets see with anything changes

ok i tried it three different times and it did work fine, the problem you described did not occur (mine is an 80gb ipod video though)
Elias_Maluco:
So I did what I said on the last post (reinstaled the bootloader, completelly removed rockbox dir and then reinstaled it using the utility), and it seens like my problem is gone. Ive heard quite a numer of songs that were almost always freezing near the end, and none did. So there was really something wrong here, not with my iPod, but with my rockbox.
Conclusion: rockbox IS very stable on the iPod video 5.5 and I was very wrong. And Im very happy that I got this thing working properly again.
I wonder what I did to screw it up (so I wont do it again)? Am I really supposed to first delete the rockbox dir everytime I update (I used to just overwrite it with the new build)? I never did anything too advanced or unorthodox on it, only installed a couple of themes, made some small changes on one. Also, I only changed the settings to disable anything that could drain the battery faster (stuff like fades, etc).
Anyway, sorry about the false bug. I requested the closure of the bug report i made, and sorry for wasting your time.

Bug closed in Flyspray. And thanks for coming back and explaining/apolgising; so many people just disappear when their particular gripe/problem/bug is resolved without saying a word...
