okay i have literally been trying to install rockbox on my 5.5 30gig vid ipod.....first i tried the whole ipod patcher thing....it said "no ipods detected" then i just tried the rockbox utility and it said the same exact thing...am i doing something wrong here.....please help.....??????

Are you connecting your iPod to your computer in disk mode, and is the iPod formatted FAT32 and not HFS+ (the Mac disk format)?

And are you running it with admin/root rights?
