iPod Nano Recording Source

(1/1)

MarcGuay:
Hi Folks,

I just noticed that the iPod Nano build has two options under the recording source option: Microphonee and Line-In.  It appears that the headphone jack can be used as a very low-gain audio line-in, which explains the other entry, but I was wondering whether the Microphone option was an error or if I was missing something.

Chronon:
I believe that's an extraneous setting.  Line in is located in the dock connector.  Some of the iPods appear to be capable of recording through the left channel of the headphone jack.  (http://www.ipodlinux.org/Recording).  But I haven't seen any good corroboration that the Nano is one of these.  "Microphone" is used to describe recording via the headphone jack, as far as I recall.
