problem with winff
« on: June 06, 2008, 09:47:42 AM »
hi, I didn't see any "technical support" forum so i'm posting it here. If this post shouldn't be in this forum feel free to move it....
I posted this last month in winff technical forum but no one answered. I hope you have any solution for me.......

This whole place is a Technical Support forum. For Rockbox. I know you're trying to use a preset intended to create a Rockbox compatible file, but you're using WinFF, which isn't our software.

As a hint, though, you might want to try posting some information there about the problems you're having, rather than saying "Hey guys, please download these files and tell me what went wrong." People rarely like having to download other files to help.

thanks for the quick reply.
i'm using windows xp. I have sansa e280. I tried using all the verisons of winff with the presets file from this site but it always went wrong. I also tried using the 0.41 verision which includes a default option for rockbox presets. I also tried changing the codecs from "codec pack all in 1" to "k-lite codec pack" but it didn't help either. At first i tried to use the "multithreading for dual core" option because i have a dual core processor (e6400) but it always gave me illeagel operations errors so i cancled it. any more relevant details you might need? I know people don't like to download unknown files but i can't really describe the converted file. green screen with sound maybe? thanks again!!

"green screen with sound" sounds like an XviD decoding error.
WinFF (and ffmpeg) doesn't need any of those silly "codec packs" - this is beyond the scope of Rockbox, but there is no longer any telling how scrambled your Windows direct show filter list is.
doom9.org should be able to help.

Question: Did you actually try playing the file on your player, and get the green screen there, or just in Windows testing it before copying over?
