« on: June 04, 2008, 09:03:52 AM »
well, i took off the autoload, ran intialize now and all was right with the world. now. there's no database, and i try to intialize now, and nothing. it says it is, but stays on 0. but i know there's files on it. i think i have to remove the rockbox, but i love it, so i'm torn. anyone have any ideas?

Are you sure your files are tagged properly?

That would be doing more than you have to.  Have you tried checking your disk for errors?

Hi,

if the disk check reveals no errors you could also try the following:
Delete all *.tcd files from the .rockbox directory on your player before initializing the Database.
Normally the Rockbox shouldn't care if these files are present or not when initializing the Database, but sometimes it helps to delete those files when there are problems with initializing.

The following applies to Windows. Other OSs will be different.

Hook your DAP up to the computer, and open up My Computer. Right-click on the drive it appears as, and select "Properties". On the "Tools" tab, click the "check now" button under "Error-checking".

thanks much, am scanning for errors now. fingers crossed that this'll work.

i scannned and defragged it and it still does the same damned thing. i can't fathom what's wrong with this. anyone have any other ideas?

oh, just in case it's important, i've got an iriver h10 20 gig.

i had forgotten to take pauljam's advice. and so far it's working. thanks! thanks everyone for your time and effort. this is the most helpful forum i've ever been apart of.
