Search the forums for "database choke" and I'm sure you'll find the answer.

I just realized that the next person who searches for "database choke" is going to find this message and that's pretty lame so:  Make sure you don't have any embedded album art in your files, if they're too large, the database initialization will freeze on them.  A corrupt file is another common reason for this, which can be verified with checkdisk.
