video out
cassette deck:
it has a box inbetween the cables, i think its probably a converter or something that changes the signal somehow
Chronon:
I doubt it. It's probably just a ferrite bead unless you have some reason to suspect active components there. Do you have documentation for this cable? Is it not a cable for your digital camera?
cassette deck:
no its not, i got the cable from a garage sale, i think its usb 1.1 though, sorry for wasting your time. but isn't there a way you could make something like that though? id really like to use my gigabeat for a dvd player/commercial free tv viewer
Chronon:
If you wish to interface your DAP with a separate piece of hardware you need to know what that hardware does. You can't just randomly start sending binary to it and assume that the two will play nice together. If you want to use the USB port on the Gigabeat then you need to properly write digital data to the port. Its conversion to NTSC video will rely on your delivery of properly formatted digital information (a sequence of bits) to a circuit that will do the conversion for you. There's no DAC wired to the USB port internally in the Gigabeat so you won't stand any chance of getting a straight NTSC signal out of that port.

As I said above, since it plays video, its definitely not a USB cable.
