Using a different midi patchset...
« on: June 01, 2008, 01:32:22 AM »
I have a Sansa E260 with Rockbox, which I love (both E260 and Rockbox).

I also write songs, and I save them as MIDIs, so I was elated when MIDIPlay came out for the E200s.
The patchset from http://wam.umd.edu/~stevenm/patchset.tbz2 is good, but there are other patchsets I would like to try, such as http://freepats.opensrc.org/freepats-20060219.zip.

The Rockbox-endorsed patchset works fine, but MIDIPlay refuses to acknowledge the FreePats patchset. Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi, I looked into this a bit and the parser for the .cfg files in our midi plugin is not very good and seems to only have been used with the recomended patchset (so it has a lot of problems reading the cfg's in the freepat set). I'll try to fix this up sometime but don't hold your breath! :)

Just wondering if this was ever fixed.

If it were fixed, such a fix would be noted in the changelog.

Just wanted to let the curious know that I plan on improving the config file parser for the Midi player to be able to use other patchset files. Follow my progress on the flyspray page: http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/9856

If it can be described as a creative work, yes.
