MPEG player questions

i know its been asked many times but i still have not found a solid answer, so here goes. i have the Toshiba gigabeat f40 with version r17347-20080504, and i use Win FF. first off i was wondering what the best preset is whether it be with the command line or not, second i was wondering if you have to adjust conversion based on the old format of the video before it will work. i have some videos that work and some that don't. whether from youtube, google, or my own. any input is appreciated. thanks for looking

it says here that WinFF comes with presets for most of the DAPs Rockbox runs on.  Just choose the preset for your DAP and use that.

I found a good preset and I'm also using the old Win FF thanks anyway though.
