H120 freezing
« on: May 30, 2008, 05:56:35 AM »
Hi all,
My H120 is freezing, sometimes it says "Loading" other times it says CODEC FAILURE.
Sometimes is seems OK, but just won't play, then freezes without saying anything.
It works OK if I boot into I-River's firmware.
I've tried updating the Rockbox firmware. (version 6)
Any ideas?
Cheers

The Rockbox bootloader for the H100 series is at Version 6; that's not the same as the Rockbox build. The most recent build version (at the time of this posting) is r17660.

Are you sure you extracted the build from the zip file correctly? You should have a .rockbox folder in the root of your iriver; in it will be several subfolders, including a "codecs" folder.

We usually recommend a program like 7-zip to open rockbox.zip files.

Maybe the WinRar didn't unzip properly as in my .rockbox folder I have another .rockbox folder. and in that a load of the same sub folders inc codecs, backdrops, codec pages, docs etc.

I guess this in't right?

Should I 7-zip the update and overwrite?

Cheers for your help.

yes, remove the .rockbox tree that is within .rockbox
then unzip the downloaded build to your player, NOT to the .rockbox dir of your player ;)
after that, check that you don't have a new .rockbox dir there
