Creating another dictionary on iPod Video

(1/1)

GarrettGoesBoom:
Alright, I have the rockbox dictionary with the generic dictionary sources from the wiki page on here, but I've also been wanting to try fugot's spanish translator that uses the dict plugin (and works the same as the plugin). The setup is the same as for the normal dictionary. Thing is, I'm seeing definite conflicts if I list both dict.desc/index files (one english dictionary and one spanish translator) in the same directory (and with the same name). Could I copy the dict.rock plugin file, rename it dict2.rock, paste it back in the rocks folder, and rename the spanish files to dict2.desc/index to match? It would be nice to have them seperate so I could use both.

Llorean:
You'll have to modify the source of the plugin to look for a different file. Basically, compile your own build.

so then i guess it's no to my idea?... ha, thanks for the help, but I'm better at fidgiting then compiling... I'll leave that to the big boys and I'll just enjoy the dictionary I have ;)

Chronon:
It's a bit of a pain, but it seems that you could just manually rename the files when you want to switch dictionaries.

GarrettGoesBoom:
How so do you mean?
Would it be:
- If I want the dictionary I would have the dict. files as dict.index/desc and the translator's dict. files as something else (like dictabcd.index/desc)...

and

- If I want the translator I would switch and name the translator files as dict.index/desc and the dictionary files as something else...

Just checking to see if thats what you meant... and, if so, yeah it might be more of a hassle, but it would be less hassle for me to do it then for me to try to learn to compile from scratch right now.
