ipod mini not installing

so i found out about rockbox and it sounded really cool so i thought i would install it
so i got the .rockbox folder and put it in the root of my ipod when i run ipodpatcher.exe it says [info] scanning disks... [err] no ipods found MY IPOD IS PLUGGED IN!!!

operating system Vista
ipod mini 2gb
latest fw installed
officail fw works

Did you run iPodpatcher with Admin privileges?

Rockbox does not run on the 2nd generation Nano.

Rockbox Utility (the installer intended for the majority of people) would have told you that it's an Ipod version Rockbox doesn't run on ... (we have detection of Nano 2G / 3G and Classic since the last release).
