If I understand correctly, you will need to make a change in the source code.  There's no accessible setting for changing the action of the scroll wheel in the WPS.

Is there a need to change the volume by large amounts often?  I usually leave my volume pretty close to the same value while listening.

okay.  I just don't really listen to my music quiet, so I have never been annoyed by this.   :)

If you want more direct advice on which parts of the code you need to change you can go to the IRC channel and ask there.

I am not too clear on what your theme problem is.  Can you make a new topic in the WPS forum for that?  Give a clear description of what you're seeing and I can try to answer your question there.

ReplayGain may be a solution to your volume variance... properly set up (this would be done on your computer, not in rockbox) all your music should be around the same level.

I have replay gain setup on a 4th gen ipod, I used foobar to calculate a tag the files. Works great.
