Rockbox works but not USB hardware.
« on: May 23, 2008, 01:13:38 PM »
Hello i got a new 2ND generation Ipod Mini 4GB this day.

On my last ipod mini i had rockbox and was very satisfied with it so I wanted to get it again.

Here is my problem:

I downloaded the rockbox files for my ipod, extracted them like instructed into the root folder of ipod, and then run Ipodpatcher. I then  disconnected ipod and now rockbox worked... fine. Now i want to load music into it, but what happends is when i connect my ipod with usb is that my computer doesn't recognize the hardware, it says:
"Found new hardware, a problem occurred during hardware installation. Your new hardware might not be working properly"

So i cant go into the removable disk to add songs or even remove .rockbox folder...

I tried to install driver threw apple CD that came with the ipod, but it doesn't even recognize that the ipod is connected.

What can i do? Please help :)

Boot into the original firmware if you need to do any file transfers.

Rockbox has a USB stack which isn't completed yet, so it's disabled.

By the way, you don't need any drivers for the iPod. Out of the box, the iPod acts as a USB storage device. If you used iTunes on this iPod at any point, then you'll just have to click the "Enable Disk Use" option in iTunes.

The answer to this should be in the manual.  I know that on a lot of players when you plug in the USB cable while they're off the OF will boot automatically.

The original firmware didnt launch when i did the usb cable thing.

This is what i found in the manual but can't understand it...

10.4.  Firmware Loading

10.4.1.  Using ROLO (Rockbox loader)

Rockbox is able to load and start another firmware file without rebooting. You just “play” a file with the extension .ipod. This can be used to test new firmware versions without deleting your current version.

Okey guys, so now i can start up with the OF, and transfer files there, but once i start the rockbox again, and connect with usb, it gives me same shit, that driver cant be found for "High definition audio bus"... and my ipod freezes...

So, do i have to change it to OF each time i load songs into the thing? or is there an other solution maybe?
