Tag Troubles
Jeezus:
I've got an apple 5.5 30gb and for some reason or another some of my files are loading as untagged, or with different tags than I have set. Does anyone know how I could fix this? I loaded my ipod with amarok.

I've also just noticed that I can't play music from my ipod through amarok, while it's hooked into my computer
AlexP:
Do you have Rockbox installed?
Jeezus:
yes, I have Rockbox installed ver. r175488
I went through, and edited the filenames of all the mp3's that were showing up as untagged, and then re-did all of the id3 tags for those mp3's. I then deleted the files from my ipod, and reloaded the freshly edited files on in their place.
The first time I went through the database, everything was in proper order but my ipod was freezing up when I tried to play music, it would just constantly attempt to load, but never get anywhere. I had the same problem after a hard restart, so I reloaded the .rockbox files and my ipod worked again... but the files were all untagged again.
I can't make any sense out of it.

How did you edit the tags? iTunes tends to write tags to its database, rather than the files themselves. Maybe amarok does the same? Verify that the files actuallly on the ipod are tagged correctly.

Did you go back into the database settings menu and do 'Initialise Database' again, once the re-tagged files were on there? They will not show up if you don't.

I'm not certain how amarok tags files, but I can look into it. Do you know of a program that will tag files directly?

When I checked the DB the files that were showing up as untagged were properly tagged, but when I replaced the .rockbox directory and rescanned the DB they were no longer tagged again.
