System Files Missing, Hard Drive Wiped on iriver H10

(1/1)

nate263:
I've looked up this problem on your forums but there is nothing quite like it. I botched the install on my iriver H10 5 gig (I don't want to go through how it happened.) I then tried to use the iriver plus to initialize the hard drive because I don't use the music on there anymore and I thought this would be a surefire way of restoring the firmware but it froze or something and now my hard drive is completely wiped. Any solutions?

karashata:
Easy solution would be to format the device as FAT32 using the default settings (to make sure it's clean), then grab the MTP firmware updater utility from iriver and use that to replace the missing firmware files.  The utility can be found here.  The utility will likely ask you where you got your H10, just answer accordingly and follow the instructions.

nate263:
It says that Windows is unable to complete the format.

karashata:
hmm...  I haven't had to reformat my H10 in a long time, but the last time I did I made sure the drive label was correct and told Windows to use the device defaults for the sector size and such...  If you can run the disk check utility on it to see if there are any bad sectors and such on it, you may wish to do that, otherwise you might need to use a different formatting utility.
