Won't install to Mac Formatted 1st Gen iPod Nano
(1/1)
ToastOfDestiny:
I had originally installed Rockbox to my 1st Generation iPod Nano, which was formatted with windows. My family bought a Mac, and I due to iPod trouble, I had to reformat my iPod with the Mac. Now when I try to install Rockbox, I can't get it to load or work. When I click on the Rockbox file that downloaded to the Mac, it opens empty. There isn't a single file or folder inside Rockbox. I can't specify the download location to my iPod. When I drag the file into my iPod, it still shows up empty, and I can't load into Rockbox mode.
What should I do?

There are instructions on how to format your iPod to FAT32 on a Mac here:

Other problems you will face on the Mac are:
1) By default (i.e. double-clicking on a zip file), OS X will create an extra folder name (not in the zip file) called "rockbox".
2) Inside this "rockbox" folder, is the real Rockbox folder (called ".rockbox" - note the dot at the start). By default, Finder will not display files starting with a dot (they are hidden files in Unix).
The easiest solution is to use the Rockbox Utility to download and install Rockbox builds - this will do the right thing for you. It's linked to in the Installation chapter in the Rockbox manual.
