Ipod nano 1st generation don't start

<< < (4/4)

SuperBear:
First of all, good news is my 1Gen iPod nano comes back into life after 36 hours of faking dead as predicted.   ;D So this confirms that the issue does not damage the device. I guess it takes longer than wwywang's and ercoppa's nano is because mine might have a stronger battery.

Second, to answer Llorean's question, I waited probably around 30 seconds. But I can not be sure. One thing to notice though, I do not recall the backlight was on when I was stuck in the apple logo screen, since I do remember having to tilt it a little bit to see what is on (the room was pretty bright at the time).

Anyhow, at least we know
1) The device is NOT damaged
2) The device is stuck in some mysterious status, but definitely with power on
3) the device is not responsive to any operation, including but not limited to charging, hard reset, etc.
4) Leaving the device unplugged to nothing for a day or two will exhaust the battery and bring the device back to life (the only approach tried at this moment is to plug the device to the USB port of the PC)

So if other people experience the same thing, they will have a way out and there is no need to feel panic since you can sit back and assured that your beloved iPod is not damaged. 8)

Thanks all for the good discussion and experiment.
