Started over, now what?

I was having issues with my battery dying super quickly on my Gigabeat F40 so I bought a new one and replaced it. Same issues. I decided to remove the software and do a clean reinstall of it all. Figured it may solve the issues. Well I removed it, and I hooked it back up so I can reinstall it. I believed i reinstalled the software but when I tried to turn it on just to see what it would do, it threw up a system error of 00000020 and that is all it does. I have no idea where to even begin. Ideas? Thanks.
